The lights of the city twinkled below, and the calmness of the moment provided a welcome contrast to the whirlwind of thoughts swirling in her mind. Her phone was pressed to her ear, the soft, familiar voice on the other end giving her a sense of comfort.

“So, how was your day?” Nikhil’s voice came through, calm and warm, a slight undertone of concern in his words. He had been more attentive lately, sensing that she was going through a lot with the wedding preparations and everything else.
